Stove and range repair in Stafford, VA
Burners that won't light, won't heat or won't turn down. Gas and electric ranges and cooktops.
Swift and Reliable
Straight answers
When a burner quits, cooking gets awkward fast. On electric ranges the cause is usually a burned-out element, a scorched receptacle or an infinite switch that no longer controls the heat. On gas ranges it’s often a dirty or cracked igniter, a failing spark module or a clogged burner.
We repair freestanding, slide-in and drop-in ranges and built-in cooktops, including coil, smooth glass and induction tops. If the oven needs attention too, we can look at it on the same visit.
If you smell gas, leave the house and call your gas utility or 911 first. We’ll repair the appliance once it’s safe.

Common problems
What goes wrong with a stove and range, and what we check
-
Gas burner won't light
What we check
We clean the burner head and cap, check the igniter for cracks or residue, and test the spark module. A cap that isn't seated flat after cleaning is a common cause.
-
Igniter keeps clicking
What we check
Nonstop clicking usually means moisture or a spill in a burner switch, or a spark switch that has failed. We dry or replace the switch and check the wiring behind the knobs.
-
Electric burner won't heat
What we check
We test the element for continuity, check the receptacle or terminal block for burned contacts, and test the infinite switch that controls it.
-
Burner only works on high
What we check
That points to a failed infinite switch, the part that cycles power on and off to set the heat. We test it and its wiring before replacing it.
-
Cracked glass cooktop
What we check
A cracked glass top should not be used, because spills can reach the elements underneath. We confirm the correct replacement top for your model and give you the price.
-
Yellow or uneven gas flame
What we check
A healthy flame is mostly blue. We clean clogged burner ports, check the burner alignment and air flow, and confirm the range is set up for the right gas (natural gas or propane).
Straight answers
Is it worth fixing?
Ranges are among the longest-lasting kitchen appliances, often 13 to 15 years, and gas models frequently go longer. Igniters, elements, switches and burner valves are usually worth replacing at any age.
The cases that change the math are a failed main control board on an older electronic range, or a cracked glass top on a lower-cost model. If the repair costs more than half the price of a comparable new range, or it’s near the end of its typical life, replacing it usually makes more sense.

FAQ
Stove and range repair questions
Still have a question? Call (540) 922-7111
Can I clean my gas burners myself?
Yes. Once they’re cool, lift off the grates and burner caps and wash them in warm, soapy water. Clear clogged ports with a straight pin, not a toothpick, which can break off inside.
Let everything dry completely and seat the caps flat before lighting. A wet igniter or a crooked cap is the most common reason burners click or won’t light after cleaning.
Why does my glass cooktop element turn on and off?
That’s normal. Radiant elements under glass cycle on and off to hold the heat setting, so the glow comes and goes, especially on lower settings.
If an element never glows, stays on full no matter the setting, or heats much more slowly than the others, a part has likely failed.
Why won't my induction cooktop heat my pan?
Induction only works with magnetic cookware. If a magnet doesn’t stick firmly to the bottom of the pan, the cooktop won’t detect it.
If your pans pass the magnet test and a zone still won’t heat or shows an error code, we’ll check the power board, the cooling fan and the induction coil for that zone.
